Participate in research study about Rails IDEs

Hi everyone, fellow Rails dev here. I’m doing some research to better understand how Rails developers choose and buy IDEs and how AI features play a part in that. I’m doing 45 minute interviews in exchange for a $50 Visa gift card.

If you’re interested, you can sign up here: https://tally.so/r/3xRJWd. I’ll only email you one time to let you know if you secured a spot.

Thanks!

My rails IDE is gnu emacs 29.2 and the o1 AI is outside of that - chatgpt-shell in emacs uses 3.5 prepaid but will probably be DeepSeek soon. I do have copilot free glorified autocomplete but lately I have been switching it off - keeps getting in the way and eglot lang servers are good enough for my puny projects. I did consider buying a RubyMine subscription but the research trial period cured me. I see they now have the option to add AI Pro for 200 a year which is great I guess.

Yeah, RubyMine was decent, but not much better than Copilot. There seems to be new opportunities for introducing more context to some of these models. That has me excited!

Like, How I’ll be benefited?

My rails IDE is sublime text for 12+ years and not going to switch. Never used anything AI-related and never plan to use it.
