Free Rails hosting (for job demo app)?

Hi, so I made a demo for my Rails job, and it’s very basic. I hosted it on Render but it loads for a minute if not used for a while (“Your free instance will spin down with inactivity, which can delay requests by 50 seconds or more” its says). And now I’m not sure if it’s not going to scare away my employers if they see my demo on such a website, maybe asking to wait for 2 minutes is also a bit much. But still, I would prefer not to pay for a website that simple, especially if I’m a bit short on money now. What would u recommend? Do you think free demo could run on free trier on Render? Or are there better alternatives also free? Or is free hosting a bad idea overall?

If you can miss a few dollars, pay for one level up, it’ll save you a lot of time.

If it has to be completely free, get the always-free Ampere box (4 vCPUs, 24GB RAM) set up with Ubuntu and deploy your app to it using Kamal

Like a nice interview outfit, consider a VPS an investment in your career and future. I’d find a way to spend $4 - 6 a month on a host. I use DigitalOcean for my projects. Rails 8, Docker (you get one DockerHub registry free), Kamal. The target machine costs a few pennies a day. Good luck

Mine is hosted on under Fly.io domain with 2 machines and one machine always running

Everyday I get charged with $0.2 - 0.3 not much

I don’t have many visiters but the website loads fast, never really sleeps so I’m happy.
