Now we see that the Rails community is clearly separate from the Ruby community. People are immediately willing to assume the worst and act the asshole in front of thousands.

This mailing list fiasco reminds me way too much of the security upgrade fiasco. To me it just shows poor judgment. Not even a posting to the list that it was going to happen. Not that these particular things affected me a whole lot, but it demonstrates very clearly a pattern that's not very comforting.
