I'll keep this short, because I don't need to say much
James Edward Gray II's TextMate book is now available from all the
usual places. You can get it direct from us if you'd like (http://
www.pragmaticprogrammer.com/titles/textmate/)--we're shipping the
paper books and PDFs now.
One of the cool things about being a publisher is that I get lots of
copies of books. For this one, I've got one on my desk, one by my bed,
and on in the bathroom. (I know, too much information...). It's an
incredibly useful book on getting the most out of a great editor.
I've updated my PDF several times since the first betas. My current version is 1.4, created the 23 of February. The just released version is easily identified because it does _not_ have the page at the beginning of the book that warns you're reading a book in beta stage.
There's a bug in the system, I regenerated the PDF and it's the final version, but the page keeps warning me that I'm regenerating a PDF I already have.
I use there the same email I'm using on this list.
Browser is Safari, if it helps.
Once you're regenerated it once, it think that's the PDF you have. If you come back later, it will think you have that PDF still.
We sometimes see some kind of strange caching going on with Safari and PDFs. You go through the regeneration, we create your new PDF, but when you download, Safari says "Oh, I have that PDF in cache" and gives you the old one. In our new system we'll timestamp PDFs to prevent this.
Seems to be generating fine for me. "The latest version of this book
is P1.0: 2007-02-23, dated 2007-02-24."
I did not receive the usual email update though. It's possible that
the spam filter ate it, but your emails have always gotten through
before. Just a heads-up, in case there's something wrong with your
notification system.
