[ADV] TextMate book now available

I'll keep this short, because I don't need to say much

James Edward Gray II's TextMate book is now available from all the usual places. You can get it direct from us if you'd like (http:// www.pragmaticprogrammer.com/titles/textmate/)--we're shipping the paper books and PDFs now.

One of the cool things about being a publisher is that I get lots of copies of books. For this one, I've got one on my desk, one by my bed, and on in the bathroom. (I know, too much information...). It's an incredibly useful book on getting the most out of a great editor.

Enjoy

Ehy Dave, I wanted to regenerate my PDF but it seems the last revision is from December. Something's wrong ?

Just for the record, I updated my PDF without problem today.

My version is B1.04: 2006-12-20, dated 2006-12-20, what's yours ? Maybe this one is the definitive one ?

I've updated my PDF several times since the first betas. My current version is 1.4, created the 23 of February. The just released version is easily identified because it does _not_ have the page at the beginning of the book that warns you're reading a book in beta stage.

There's a bug in the system, I regenerated the PDF and it's the final version, but the page keeps warning me that I'm regenerating a PDF I already have. I use there the same email I'm using on this list. Browser is Safari, if it helps.

Once you're regenerated it once, it think that's the PDF you have. If you come back later, it will think you have that PDF still.

We sometimes see some kind of strange caching going on with Safari and PDFs. You go through the regeneration, we create your new PDF, but when you download, Safari says "Oh, I have that PDF in cache" and gives you the old one. In our new system we'll timestamp PDFs to prevent this.

For those who have read the PDF version, what do you think of it? Would you recommend the book?

Yes, absolutely, if I had to pay to the author a rate for every hour he made me spare I would bankrupt in 3 days

Seems to be generating fine for me. "The latest version of this book is P1.0: 2007-02-23, dated 2007-02-24."

I did not receive the usual email update though. It's possible that the spam filter ate it, but your emails have always gotten through before. Just a heads-up, in case there's something wrong with your notification system.
