Spare time + skills = good opportunity?

Hi Guys,

I have started the development of a web app targeting a niche market for the eLearning field. I have validated the concepts with subject matters in the field and the reception was very positive thus my interest in going a lot further with the project. I am a sw developer/sw architect with some good background in product management. I have started the web app in RoR but I am not an expert in that field.

What I am looking for are 2 or 3 good and experienced RoR developers who have some free time on their hands and want to work on some interesting stuff. I am willing to split a portion of the project’s equity based on the methodology explained in the excellent book “Slicing Pie”.

The web app is based on a SAAS model and will include features such as: User Collaboration, Account Management, User Management, Search, Billing, Annotation, file handling, Amazon S3, Auditing and more.

My personal philosophy is very similar to the guys at Basecamp (37 Signals) and I want to work with the best and brightest to create something amazing. I want to do this in a bootstrapping mode so I will not sacrifice the user’s needs for a quick exit. I am there for the long run.

If this rings a bell for you, give me a shout at: info ‘at’ okapya ‘dot’ com. Or simply post it here ...

Cheers!

Wow. I have to say, you don't often see this kind of level-headed request for help. Thank you very much for raising the tone. I wish I was available for this.

Walter

Hi Walter,
