RoR Guides used Textile, anybody knows how to use it?

It’s said in the RoR Guides that it was written in Textile, a lightweight markup language.

How does one use it and then come up something like that of the RoR Guides? Do you need to have a generator so that it can generate the HTML files for the Textile markup that you’ve used?
