Not at all. OpenLazlo is a complete XML / Javascript language used to create Flash files (compiles .swf binaries). It’s extremely powerful and decently easy to learn. www.openlazlo.org is the best place to start.

Yes, that is correct. In fact, they have two comparison apps for you to try out, one in Flash, the other in pure DHTML, and they are remarkably similar. You should check it out if you haven’t already.
