A spammer, to spam you, and nothing in real time.
We don't really have moderation per-se -- Google occasionally flags
mail as potential spam and we have to green-light it for posting. I
believe I've seen 1 (one) spam message in that queue since I started
list housekeeping in August -- the rest are straight up Ruby and Rails
questions.
We read the list as we can, and remove messages and ban posters when
we notice spam. We could move to a model where all new posters start
out as moderated, but that would make the list a bit more bursty (and,
given the volume, require a lot of work on someone's part).
