Windows Server 2003/2208 with IIS : How to make it as RoR web server?

Hi guys,

Been busy researching yesterday on how to create a RoR development web server environment, on a box running on Windows 2003 or 2008 with IIS enable.

2nd, I am downloading a Ubuntu, trying to create a linux box to host RoR development, as most of RoR users suggested to use as server OS. Problem is, I am a window guy, do you have a good tutorial on installing Ubuntu down to installing/setup RoR inorder to a production like environment?

3rd, any good guides on beginning development on RoR with existing database(Ms Sql 2000)

I found http://www.hackido.com/2009/04/install-ruby-rails-on-ubuntu-904-jaunty.html very helpful (actually I was using a previous version of the guide as I was using ubuntu 8.10).

As far as using a windows box for RoR server I am sure it is possible but I suspect most would advise that it is much easier on Linux.

Colin

Thanks Colin and david,

Now my other problem is, To setup a Linux Ubuntu box using :

ubuntu-9.04-server-i386

and then Install all necessary files to host a RoR

and good link?

As for installing Ubuntu, download the CD image and go for it.

For RoR my link http://www.hackido.com/2009/04/install-ruby-rails-on-ubuntu-904-jaunty.html is for a desktop version, but I think it should not be much different on a server.
