Which Slackware version? Have you configured FCGIHandler in apache for your Rails app?

We have been pulling our hair out trying to get RoR up and running on a slackware linux box.
It looks like everthing is right, the symbolic link gives us the RoR welcome screen but the 'About your application’s environment' link returns the following:
Not Found The requested URL /APContacts/rails/info/properties was not found on this server.
The webrick server runs the application without error, however apache 1.3 does not recognize the ruby controllers.
I have tested fcgi with pearl scripts so I know it is working.
