Rails trac etiquette - should I assign a ticket to myself?

I have been looking into a few tickets that others have posted to the
rails trac site and I am wondering if it is appropriate to assign a
ticket that I am working on to myself - or should I leave it on 'core'?

Definitely feel free to assign the ticket to yourself, 'core' should
be considered 'unassigned' as I don't believe anyone gets its emails.
