looking for a ruby on rails programmer

Hello,

First off I'd like to state that I'm not sure if this is the right
group to post a recruiting message in. If it isn't, I apologize in
advance.

I operate a small Graphic design studio in Toronto and am looking for
a programmer to restyle an existing Ruby on Rails Database/portal
project for a website. This would be contract work and the price is to
be agreed upon between us.

Basically a Database that was built using Ruby on Rails needs to be
reskinned and updated and given the technology that it was built with,
it seems that I'm out of luck finding a programmer who only knows php
scripting and mysql databases. I need someone familliar with ruby on
rails and subversion technologies.

Perhaps someone in this community is interested in talking with me
about the potential of this project or could point me in a good
direction to recruit someone for the project.

Please let me know. My name is Jon. I work with uomo studio
(uomostudio.com). and my email is jon@uomostudio.com reach me there or
here - I'll be checking back on both.

Thanks

You can widen your search to include people that are familiar with cvs
as anyone who has used cvs will not have an overly difficult time
picking up subversion.. (The only difficulty is that they will never
again want to use cvs)

As for mysql, unless the db has a lot of trigers, events, stored
procedures, foreign key constraints you can once again widen your search
to include practically any RoR developer as RoR at the highest level is
fairly db agnostic.

Lastly, I am from Ottawa and over here we have the OGRE (Ottawa Group of
Ruby Enthusiasts" that you can try posting on to see if you get any
bites. Ottawa(and Montreal) is probably close enough to TO that you can
probably arrange some face to face time with a possible candidate if you
need to.

Ohh.. and maybe your add needs to be reviewed for any buzzwords that are
turning off possible candidates.. I know that I for one can be turned
off fairly easy in a job description..

I see no buzzwords.

You’re at probably the best place to recruit people (for free), if you’re willing to give out a little bit of money you could try posting on http://railswork.com/.

A little bit more information on what the site does currently and what needs improving should’ve probably been listed, but I guess that’s what you’ll explain when you sit down and talk with people.
