Ruby-on-Rails Developer
Local Matters, Inc. seeks a full-time Senior Software Engineer with both Java and Ruby on Rails experience for the Local Matters Labs. If you possess a deep understanding of modern software web site and web services design principles, popularly termed “Web 2.0” we would like to meet. You will need to demonstrate solid experience in building robust database-centric web sites and services integrating user-generated content using Java and Ruby on Rails. Extensive knowledge of Javascript, XML, CSS and XHTML is expected as is comfort with using scripting languages for regular expression parsing. Specialized mathematical skills a plus. Finally, in addition to displaying these outstanding technical abilities, possessing excellent communication skills, and meeting intense work standards are a must.
Content Modeler
Local Matters is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for an initial consulting, potential full-time position as a Content Modeler. The ideal candidate will be able to analyze, integrate, and model content from a variety of sources, formats and availability. If you like to analyze large data files, cross-reference those files to one another, and integrate them for use in exceptional “Web 2.0” applications, we’d like to talk to you. Extensive knowledge of databases, scripting languages, statistical analysis and object-oriented modeling systems required. Understanding and knowledge of advanced techniques such as map/reduce are a plus.
