Director of Technology (Career Stepping Stone!)
The Director of Technology will lead the Company’s development efforts, working directly with the CEO to implement strategy. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who’s looking to get their hands very dirty across a variety of challenges. Our client has a lot of exciting challenges ahead and the Director of Technology will play a critical role in making the company a success. There are few chances to have this large of an impact during the key early moments of an organization and we are looking for someone who views this as a career- making opportunity!
Responsibilities will include: • Architecting, building, maintaining and scaling the Company’s consumer website, as well as the technical components of their business operations • Researching and making new technology decisions for the Company
Must Haves: • Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and MySQL or Postgres • Experience with Unix system administration • Excellent, professional communication skills • Ability to prioritize efforts based on changing goals • Excited to work in a flexible, demanding, and fast-paced start-up environment • Bachelor's Degree
Very nice to haves: • Experience with Heroku or EngineYard and AWS (EC2/S3) • Proficient at designing site analytics and business intelligence systems • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, HAML/SASS, and JavaScript/CoffeeScript • Familiarity with Sphinx • Prior start-up experience • Experience managing a technical team
